Brookfield EMS is comprised of six Paramedics, one Intermediate EMT, and eight Basic EMT's totaling 135 years of service and experience, all under the leadership of EMS Chief Donna Lafleur.  Chief Lafleur began serving the town as an EMT in 1977 and also served BPD as a Police Officer for 13 years (1978-1991).  Brookfield became the first service in the area to offer advanced life support at the paramedic level in 1994.  Chief Lafleur became the town's first paramedic the previous year and began the long process of obtaining the service's license to operate a paramedic level ambulance.  Peter Martell became the town's second paramedic in 1994 and the Town of Brookfield began treating patients at the highest level of pre-hospital care possible.  Brookfield operates one ambulance, a 1998 Ford/Road Rescue.  The ambulance responds to approximately 420-450 incidents a year.  EMS personnel are on call for 8 or 12  hour shifts and are supplemented by a full time firefighter-paramedic on weekdays when call EMT's are not always available.

Congratulations to F/F Scott Baldracchi for passing his state EMT certification exam to become the latest addition to the service.
