Inspections

Smoke Detectors and Carbon Monoxide Detectors

     Covered under MGL Chapter 148 section 26 of the fire code.

    Inspection is required whenever a dwelling is sold or ownership is transferred.

    Certificate is only good for 60 days, so wait until you have a firm closing date scheduled

        before making an appointment.

    Inspections take approximately 15 minutes.

    There is an inspection fee of $20.00.

Other Permits

    Inspections for oil burners, Liquid propane storage, underground storage tank removal, and blasting are

        arranged by the contractor that is doing the work for you.

    Liquid Propane storage inspections are required when a new LP system is installed, a propane tank is

        replaced, or you change propane suppliers.

    A permit is required for fuel tanks mounted in the back of pick-up trucks used to fuel equipment.
