VICE PRESIDENT-LIEUTENANT RICK PHILLIPS

SECRETARY/TREASURER-FIREFIGHTER WALLACE CONNOR

Purpose

The Brookfield Fire Battalion is made up of members of the Brookfield Fire Department.  The purpose of the Battalion is to support the activities and the members of the Brookfield Fire Department.  The Battalion raises money through donations and various fundraisers.  The Battalion provides the Brookfield Fire Department with badges and class 'A' uniforms for parades, funerals, and other formal occasions.  Over the years the Battalion has also donated several pieces of equipment to the town, including an air compressor, a mobile radio, building materials, and the "Jaws of Life" vehicle extrication tools.  The Battalion also donates to various fire service, community, and humanitarian causes.

GEORGE H. CLANCY MEMORIAL AWARD

One very important function of the Fire Battalion is the administration of the George H. Clancy Memorial Award.  This monetary award is given to a graduating high school senior from the town of Brookfield in order to further their education or to advance in their chosen vocation.  George Clancy graduated from Brookfield High School in 1946, and served in the U.S. Army after being drafted in 1952.  He first joined the Fire Department in 1949 and held several leadership positions including Lieutenant, Captain, and Assistant Chief before being appointed Chief of the Department in 1986.  George "Red" Clancy was taken from us in 1988, but his spirit and dedication to the community remain.  After his passing the members of the Fire Battalion established a scholarship award using donations made in his memory.  The Award is given annually to a Brookfield resident whom is a graduating H.S. senior wishing to further their education or continue in their trade, and who we feel shares Mr. Clancy's commitment to community service.  Applications can by obtained from your high school guidance office starting in March. All applications are reviewed and the winner selected by a panel of battalion members.
