Structural Apparatus

Engine 1

Engine One is a 1987 Ford/Grumman fire engine that the town purchased used and placed in service in 2000.  This engine replaced a 1955 American Laflance fire engine that desperately needed to be replaced after 45 years of use.  A used engine was purchased in consideration of the town's fiscal situation at the time.  Engine One has a 1,000 gallon water tank and a 1,250 gallon per minute pump.  This unit can accommodate a crew of 5 firefighters in its open canopy cab.  It carries a full compliment of firefighting equipment including 5 self contained breathing apparatus, a ventilation saw, a pre-piped deck gun, a ventilation fan, and hand tools.  A medical kit and hazardous materials equipment are also onboard.  Engine One is first due for all fire alarms.

Engine 2

Engine Two is a 2007 Spartan/Crimson Rescue Pumper.  This unit has a 1,000 gallon water tank and a 1,500 gallon per minute pump.  It was placed in service on Saturday February 16th 2008 replacing a 1971 Maxim pumper.  In addition to a full compliment of firefighting equipment Engine Two also carries a complete set of hydraulic rescue tools, pneumatic tools, cribbing, saws, and hand tools used to extricate tramped occupants after a motor vehicle accident.  A medical kit and hazardous materials response equipment are also onboard.  E-2 is the second due engine for all fire alarms in town and is the first due engine for car accidents, rescue scenes, and hazardous materials responses.

Engine 3

Engine Three is a 1983 Ford/Middlesex pumper.  When this engine was placed into service it replaced two 1947 Dodge pumpers.  It carries a 1,000 gallons of water and a 1,000 gallon per minute pump.  It can accommodate 2 firefighters in its enclosed cab.  Engine Three has worked very hard for the Department for over 20 years, and after work to its pump and a new water tank, is expected to continue to serve Brookfield for several years to come.

Tanker 1

Tanker One is a 1995 Freightliner/Conway 3,000 gallon tanker.  This unit was purchased after a crack was discovered in the frame of the previous tanker.  Tankers are essential pieces of apparatus in providing a quick water supply in areas of town not protected by fire hydrants.  Tanker One carries a portable folding water tank that is set up at fire scenes.  The tanker dumps its water into the port-a-tank then heads off to be refilled and repeats the process until the fire is out.  Tanker One responds to all fire alarms out of the hydrant district and responds out of town on mutual aid requests periodically.
